Relationship boundaries help individuals determine what they’re comfortable with and how they’d like to be treated by others. In a healthy relationship, friends and partners respect each other’s emotional and physical boundaries. A lack of healthy boundaries can lead to stress, anxiety, and depression. Additionally, poor boundaries can attract abusive people. At City Counseling Center, we work with individuals to help develop positive and healthy boundaries to build strong relationships.

What are relationship boundaries, and why are they important?

In relationships, especially romantic relationships, personal boundaries, and self-esteem, cultivate a prosperous and healthy relationship. Boundaries help establish emotional and physical limits between romantic partners, friends, and colleagues. They also hold both parties accountable for personal words, actions, and behaviors in our relationships.
