Helping You Through Grief to Regain Your Footing in Life

Grief & Loss

You do not have to grieve alone. We develop strong attachments to the people and things we love in our lives. When we lose that person or thing, we suffer deeply. In particular, the death of someone special in our life one can be emotionally devastating. Feelings of grief can also follow the loss of a job, pet, relationship, or miscarriage.

There is no wrong or right way to grieve. We all grieve differently. Our grief can arrive suddenly or may involve the longer process of having to say goodbye. Regardless of how or when your grief presents itself, this period in your life can feel lonely and isolating. However, you do not have to grieve alone. At City Counseling Center we offer our clients a compassionate and safe space with unconditional understanding, confidentiality, and acceptance during this difficult time in your life.

What is Grief?

Grief is your emotional response to losing someone or something that matters deeply to you. Whatever loss you may be experiencing, your feelings of grief are a completely natural response to what you are going to do. Your body and mind can respond to loss with both emotional and physical pain. Your world can feel so empty and different, yet familiar at the same time.

When life changes, we change. Grieving is the natural process of learning how to live in a changing world. When someone we love has died, or a relationship has ended, we are challenged to relearn how to be with ourselves, family, and friends. We are also faced with the challenge of creating new routines and systems that allow us to live with joy and purpose in spite of our losses.
